Take a musical journey through songs and tales with a group of talents from Taiwan, the island nation, also known as Formosa. After centuries of progress that incorporated traditional Chinese culture, Japanese culture and Western culture, Taiwan has developed a culture of its own, which is rich in cultural contrast and spiritual distinction. This concert, featuring Taiwanese music that draws from both traditional and contemporary influences in a selection of folk songs and new compositions, provides a kaleidoscopic view of Taiwan’s multicultural dynamism. This program is organized in cooperation with the Taiwan American Association-Greater Baltimore Chapter.ancient memory (2008) (for solo tenor trombone)

for her composition Lilac . Star . Bird.
Read the press release from the Boston GuitarFest
"The title of the CD comes from the three-movement work of Ying-Chen Kao (born 1981). The style of the music is one of almost beautiful-sounding dissonance. Its high-roving melodies reminded me of the Hans Werner Henze Three Fragments in style... This is no doubt a major work that demands attention."
